4 Linds

Fact or Fiction

Here's for those of you who are betting on the Linds being the next with a baby...

As I was sitting on a chair doing ConLai's hair, she happened to notice my belly which is very difficult to keep flat while sitting.

"Mommy do you have a baby in your tummy?"

Mommy replied with a resounding NO.

"Mommy, you have a baby in your tummy." As if she is the judge on this one.

No I do not.

...by the way, that is not fair to work through my children.

The Meaning of Hair

A bedtime conversation

Mommy: ConLai, you're beautiful.

ConLai: You're beautiful, too. And Nana is a princess. She's not a boy. Other boys have hair. Other daddys have hair. My daddy doesn't have hair because...

Mommy: He's special.

ConLai: Yeah. And you're not special. You have hair.

A finished project

I found a couple windows at a garage sale and decided to paint, crackle and hang one up on our living room wall. Here's the finished project:

Man Hunt, Girl Talk

While the boys were out hunting...

The girls were in chatting and playing with babies and bazaar hopping.
All of us were enamored with sweet baby Micaiah, Caleb & Becca's little girl.

In & Out, About & Around

My sweet husband did last through the game and I do believe I had the score tallied before this happened.

"Papa"

Grandpa & Grandma Lind came to visit at the beginning of September which happened to be over state fair weekend. They got in on the BIGGEST weekend in Huron. It's the talk of town all summer. The girls loved to go on walks with them and play with them and they of course are very good with the girls. Juliana has even started saying Grandpa, "Papa". :) She will find their picture on the bookshelf and shout, "PAPA! PAPA!"

Don't be fooled.

Looking at these pictures, you would think...

my girls LOVE playing in the leaves and do it every day in the fall.
Not true. This was a one time deal.
Maybe I didn't try hard enough.

ConLai's Crumble Cake Conglomeration

Aunt Mindy sent a cookie mix and recipe to make some sugar cookies for ConLai's birthday. So the girls and I went to work and made some. I needed something to help make the cookies a "pretty presentation" for her birthday, plus we needed something to stick candles in. The idea was for the cake to be a three step (stair-like) cake with each cookie word on a step.

First the cake came out so moist (yea for box cakes) that it wouldn't come out of the pan as a cake. It came out in crumbles. Then the cookies didn't stand up. So much for the "pretty presentation". :)

I have this idea in my mind of how wonderful the work I'm doing will look when I'm done. It's going to be such a pretty presentation to my God, and aren't I just wonderful for doing it is my train of thought! But all this is like filthy rags to a holy God. Later in Isaiah 64 where it talks about our righteous acts being as filthy rags it says,
"Yet you, LORD, are our Father.
We are the clay, you are the potter;
we are all the WORK of your hand."

Turns out I'm His work in progress that looks like the cake conglomeration below but on the day of Christ Jesus, will be completed!

We had a family over to help celebrate.

We managed to find a bike at a garage sale (a huge plus to Huron, SD) this summer that was in excellent shape which became ConLai's bday present.

Happy Birthday Daddy

Poor Daddy.

His birthday landed on a Wednesday and his wife didn't give him the royal party.
She DID make hot breakfast for him (that's huge for those of you who know her & him).
He is a golden husband though, since he is turned 28 on the 28th of September. (Notice the smoke.)
I guess he was golden before that.

My hero comes in Carharts

After thinking we would be in a rental for our entire lives, God gave us a house. It is wonderful. Couldn't have asked for more. But then...
My hero in Carharts arrived...

Bought me a dishwasher...
And installed it himself. That is what I call a hero. A man who rescues me from a life at the sink.

Classic Baby Laughing Video

ConLai was super tired and went to bed early so Juliana had Mom & Dad's undivided attention. She took full advantage of the time.

Juliana & ConLais 1st Duet

I turned the sound system on before youth group and this is what happened next.

Stinky Rockin and Gabbit Goody

Stinky Rockin'
Juliana likes to sit on the rocking chair and rock. She also likes Daddy to sit on her lap and she'll sing "baby baby baby" to him. This time Anthony made a stinky, but Juliana didn't seem to notice.
I asked Juliana, "Is it stinky Nana?"
Juliana said, "Yeah."
"Juliana, do you have a dirty diaper?"
"No."
"Does Daddy have a dirty diaper?"
She rocked back and forth a couple more times with Anthony kinda on her and then she got up and pulled at Anthony's pants to check his "diaper". (Something we do with her quite a bit.) :)

Gabbit Goody
We bought a new game called, "Gabbit". It's a little device with 5 buttons on it, each a different category. If you need a conversation starter, it's a great help. Anyway, ConLai was pressing the buttons and answering the questions, surprisingly with understanding. A question that came up was, "Who is your favorite singer?" To Mommy's pleasant surprise (ha!), she said, "Mommy!" Oh how blessed is a child's naivete. :)

Quick visit

Papo and GramO and Alidu came for a quick visit in July. It was wonderful to see them and they even got to join us for a baptismal service. A 12 year old girl was baptized! ConLai had fun playing in the water with Lucas after the service. Lucas is a youth leader who came with us to Chicago in July and who is wonderful with kids. Juliana wasn't all about the water at that point.

Daddy's girls

“Daddddyyyyy!!!”

When you get home we shout with glee!

The sound of the garage opening

And the car door shutting,

Sends us in a flurry to “Hide!” “Hide!”

Little giggles from a corner send tide

Just so you'll find us to throw into the air

You could take us anywhere

From the air to the rodeo

To ride in a horse show

Or wrestle you to the ground.

You take us to the fair

And win me my own teddy bear.

I'll grin from ear to ear
Proud to be your girlBecause who needs a prince? When I've got my Daddy.
