Chicago Trip

While we were in Chicago, we spent a couple summers helping at out at our church's yearly community outreach, Hope 4 Da Hood. Well it was different this year since we have moved. So we went back and brought a group with us to help this year from South Dakota. 3 girls and Lucas, 1 of the other youth leaders who is completely wonderful with kids, and our lil' family.

The group takin the El...
At Navy Pier...
Lucas and Anthony taking a picture together which I found out boys never do.

Some kids who spent the week at the park attending the VBS.
The swings were a hot commodity. Rarely was there an empty swing.

I know. I let him climb up there and hang upside down while I took a picture.
Making friends. :)

We stopped in Blue Earth where the Jolly Green Giant resides. ConLai was not afraid this time.

Together

I don't know if you can tell who's winning....I think ConLai lets her win though Juliana does have a feisty leg pin.
Gary and Pat Jones dropped by and surprised us one evening with a kid picnic table he had made. The girls loved it, and we've had several picnics on it. Gary and Pat have taken us in like family even to the point of becoming adoptive grandparents to our girls. Our AC wasn't working when we arrived home on Monday night after a 100 degree day, so Gary and Pat let us sleep at their cool place that night and for naps the next day. We are so thankful for couples like them!
