Don't be fooled.

Looking at these pictures, you would think...

my girls LOVE playing in the leaves and do it every day in the fall.
Not true. This was a one time deal.
Maybe I didn't try hard enough.

ConLai's Crumble Cake Conglomeration

Aunt Mindy sent a cookie mix and recipe to make some sugar cookies for ConLai's birthday. So the girls and I went to work and made some. I needed something to help make the cookies a "pretty presentation" for her birthday, plus we needed something to stick candles in. The idea was for the cake to be a three step (stair-like) cake with each cookie word on a step.

First the cake came out so moist (yea for box cakes) that it wouldn't come out of the pan as a cake. It came out in crumbles. Then the cookies didn't stand up. So much for the "pretty presentation". :)

I have this idea in my mind of how wonderful the work I'm doing will look when I'm done. It's going to be such a pretty presentation to my God, and aren't I just wonderful for doing it is my train of thought! But all this is like filthy rags to a holy God. Later in Isaiah 64 where it talks about our righteous acts being as filthy rags it says,
"Yet you, LORD, are our Father.
We are the clay, you are the potter;
we are all the WORK of your hand."

Turns out I'm His work in progress that looks like the cake conglomeration below but on the day of Christ Jesus, will be completed!

We had a family over to help celebrate.

We managed to find a bike at a garage sale (a huge plus to Huron, SD) this summer that was in excellent shape which became ConLai's bday present.

Happy Birthday Daddy

Poor Daddy.

His birthday landed on a Wednesday and his wife didn't give him the royal party.
She DID make hot breakfast for him (that's huge for those of you who know her & him).
He is a golden husband though, since he is turned 28 on the 28th of September. (Notice the smoke.)
I guess he was golden before that.

My hero comes in Carharts

After thinking we would be in a rental for our entire lives, God gave us a house. It is wonderful. Couldn't have asked for more. But then...
My hero in Carharts arrived...

Bought me a dishwasher...
And installed it himself. That is what I call a hero. A man who rescues me from a life at the sink.
