You know you're a pastor's family when...

So I have been seeing lots of these "you know whens" lately with other occupations/locations and when ConLai said something that was obviously a p.k. thing, I had to do one.

You know you're a pastor's family when...
...your kid tells others they live at church and come home to sleep...your kid's idea of daddy's and mommy's jobs is "work at church" and "bible study"

...a conference doubles as a romantic getaway

...your neighbors are immediately hesitant when they find out what you do

...you have 5 adopted grandpas and grandmas...Christmas means assorted nuts

...you avoid the label, "pastor's wife" as often as possible to prevent preconceived ideas from others

...in the interview, they ask if you are musical

...the wife sees her even-keeled, calm, amiable husband in a whole new light...your vacations are advertised in the church bulletin

...playing hooky on sundays isn't an option

...you want to wear sweats and a raggedy t-shirt to church just to be rebellious

...you get a Christmas card & letter from someone you've never talked to in your life

Blue Gunk

This was a hit.
I stole it off someone else's blog (that's where all my ideas seem to come from so I may have stolen from you since many of you have awesome ideas). It's homemade slime.Very simple to put together and relatively clean to play with makes for a happy mama and happy kids.
Happy Slimeballing!

A Beautiful Unexpected Blessing

Two years ago, a sweet little goober came into the world.

She truly was a timely gift from God.

Had she not come at that time, we would have not transitioned to me staying at home with the girls and Anthony finishing school and going to work full time. I probably would have continued to work.

I would have missed out on the privilege of being with my girls all day.Without that transition we would have not been prepared to move on to Huron where God had in store for us a bigger picture, a grander plan than either of us could have imagined.

Happy Birthday to a little girl who was in God's perfect timing.

Unexpected Blessings

I love the way God shows He cares. The other day the girls and I were at the library. This had followed a somewhat crummy week of sibling rivalry and whining. So we ended up at the library because that's a great place to go when you need out. A man walked up to the girls and I who were sprawled out amongst books on the floor. He said, "You have beautiful kids."

I don't know if it was the years in Chicago, but I'm somewhat apprehensive of men who come up and say something like that. I tried not to be rude, looked up at him and responded with a thank you. He then said, "I love kids. Go do something fun with them today." He reached down and handed me a twenty. I barely had time to respond and he was gone.

Talk about making someone's day! We went to the donut shop across the street and then to McDonalds for lunch. Now every time we walk by the donut shop the girls ask to go in. :) God, please that man for blessing us!
